About the United States Architect of the Capitol

Formed in 1793, the United States Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is the federal agency responsible for the maintenance, operation, and development of the United States Capitol complex. It is made up of 2,300 incredibly talented that employees that serve Congress and the Supreme Court in an effort to preserve America’s Capitol and inspire memorable experiences.

Challenges & Solutions

During the restoration of the Rotunda, the dome of the Capitol Building, the area was closed to the public. To allow visitors to experience the many details within the Rotunda while under repair, I worked with the AOC to develop the narrative, user experience, and creative for a visual tour app.

Results

During the renovation of the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, the app received hundreds of downloads, allowing users to virtually tour the space. Upon the reopening of the Rotunda, the app was retired.

Challenges & Solutions

Surrounding the Capitol Building are the Capitol Grounds, which include many historical landmarks. I worked with the AOC to develop an app that utilized geolocation via Codova and Google Maps to identify highlights and provide information to onsite and remote tourists.
