SteelFire Kitchen & Bar
Brand Identity, Website, Marketing and environmental collateral

About SteelFire Kitchen & Bar
SteelFire Kitchen & Bar is an original concept, developed by a Howard County family with extensive nationwide restaurant experience. A variety of signature, customizable burgers and salads anchor the menu, including plenty of health-conscious options, accented by innovative appetizers and a full bar. The affordable American cuisine is so focused on “fresh” that they don’t even have a freezer, and all items are prepared from scratch daily.
Challenge & Solution
Eric and Michelle, a husband-and-wife team, came to us with a dream of starting a burger kitchen and bar restaurant, with few other details determined. I guided the couple through the process of branding their concept eatery. Staring with a naming workshop, they landed on SteelFire: steel represents the tough, strong, and hometown of Pittsburgh (the “Steel City”); fire represents the passion and heat needed to create great food for people.
From this foundation, my team developed multiple logo design concepts, and refining these into the final version you see today. A WordPress website was launched for ease of updating menu and event details, with various marketing and environmental collateral rounding out the branded experience.
Results
The restaurant enjoyed success from the start, quickly gaining a loyal following and rave reviews from its patrons. SteeFire often hosts social and fundraising events as a way to engage and give back to the community. In 2021, the restaurant was awarded the coveted Best Burger in Howard County award from Howard Magazine. Unfortunately, the restaurant permanently closed in early 2022 due to the staffing and supply chain issues caused by the global pandemic.
