About ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil is an American multinational oil and gas corporation headquartered in Irving, Texas. It was formed by the merger of Exxon and Mobil, both of which are used as retail brands for fueling stations and downstream products. The company is vertically integrated across the entire oil and gas industry, and within it is also a chemicals division which produces plastic, synthetic rubber, and other chemical products.
Challenge & Solution
ExxonMobil launched an effort to better communicate and distribute information with its internal teams and prospective employees. The leadership of the Digital Media division enlisted my team to provide guidance and technical expertise in developing apps that would be distributed through their internal mobile device manager. I led the strategy for content architecture, design interface, and functionality for the first two of these apps.
The ExxonMobil “Energy Matters” app was designed and developed for phone and was a content source of talking points and industry highlights for employees in the field.
The ExxonMobil “Recruiting” app was designed and developed for tablet and provided detailed job descriptions in the form of a Career Matrix, based on company verticals and position functions.
Results
The ExxonMobil Digital Media division confirmed that both apps were viewed as a success by internal stakeholders. A high level of downloads, user engagement, and employee recruitment success led to the development of an expanded digital media library of apps for ExxonMobil.
