International Monetary Fund
Publication redesign; Ongoing publication design

About IMF
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a major financial agency of the United Nations, and an international financial institution, headquartered in Washington, D.C., consisting of 190 countries. It plays a central role in the management of balance of payments difficulties and international financial crises. Countries contribute funds to a pool through a quota system from which countries experiencing balance of payments problems can borrow money. The IMF is regarded as the global lender of last resort.
Challenge & Solution
IMF’s editorial and publication team reached out regarding their member benefit publication, Finance & Development. The quarterly magazine needed a full redesign to better position the publication as a vehicle for thought leadership and insights within the global economy. This endeavor included the creation of a publication template, allowing for the final English version to be translated into five other languages: French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Arabic. I commissioned the renowned artist Michael Waraksa to illustrate the relaunch cover and following issue covers, creating a strong and elevated visual recognition for the publication’s brand.
Results
With an international print run of around 35,000 at the time of the redesign, the publication redesign received numerous accolades from internal stakeholders and the organization members. My team continued to design the magazine and earned multiple awards for its modernized visual approach.
